Blackboard Inc. has announced a five year extension of its partnership with Capella University, one of Blackboard's largest online partners. The extension will build upon the Blackboard Learning System by adding the Blackboard Community System™ and Blackboard Portfolio System™ to the agreement.

Designed as a seamless system for enhancing student learning, Blackboard Learning is providing a key support component for Capella's Transparency by Design initiative. Scott Henkel, Senior Vice President of Operations and Chief Information Officer at Capella, described the arrangement as critical for Capella, noting that Blackboard offers a stable, scalable solution that is capable of growing with Capella as it responds to the needs of both traditional and non-traditional students worldwide.

Tim Hill, president of Blackboard Professional Education, in turn acknowledged Capella as an industry leader in leveraging technology to enhance the educational process even as it renders higher education more affordable for the student body.
