Project Mom Sees Wealth of Scholarship Applications
Posted by: Thomas Hanson on May 5, 2008 1:10 PM

The unique financial aid endeavor that links eLearners.com, American Intercontinental University, DeVry University and Walden University has seen more than 50,000 filed applications since its inception in late January. The immensely successful aid campaign, "Project Working Mom: Putting Education to Work," has been designed to support working moms seeking further education and is expected to provide more than $2 million in scholarship aid.

Since taking its first application on January 29, 2008, Project Working Mom.com has drawn an average of 500 scholarship applications per day. The application deadline concluded April 30th and applicants are now waiting to learn of their fate.

Terrence Thomas, Chief Marketing Officer for eLearners.com, indicated that the selection would be difficult due to the 'tens of thousands of passionate and heart-wrenching essays' that have been submitted during the application process.

Census data has revealed that most working mothers who start college never finish. The scholarship program has been designed to help those with the wherewithal to continue their program but in need of financial support in the process.
