The impact of a college degree on earnings is well documented. The U.S.Bureau of Labor Statistics puts the value of an associate degree as an extra $6,500 per year in earnings over the typical wages of a high school graduate. A bachelor's degree is worth almost three times as much, a total of $19,000 per year over that of a high school graduate.

Clearly, it behooves every one in the work force to consider further schooling. The question arises as to how it is possible to fit a college degree program into a person's current lifestyle.

Today, the answer is quite simple. Thousands of working adults have begun taking online degree programs, a process that allows them to maintain their current busy schedule yet begin the process of earning a degree. The online flexibility is even being utilized by active-duty military personnel to help soldiers earn officer positions.

With online programming there is no driving to and from class. Students may attend class at any time of the day that is convenient, including midnight if that works. Most importantly, students may compress or lengthen the typical time period that it takes to earn a degree.

Today's students can in fact earn a coveted diploma provided they have a computer, an internet connection and the desire to complete an appropriate college program.
