Dario A. Cortes, PhD, has been named by the Board of Trustees of Berkeley College as President of the school. Dr. Cortes will assume the new postion effective July 7, 2008.

Currently the President and Executive Director of The American School Foundation in Mexico City, Dr. Cortes has spent 25-year in higher education. In selecting Cortes, Board Chairman Kevin Luing cited Cortes' extensive higher education experience as well as his strategic vision and leadership skills.

Cortes carries an impressive resume of study; a BA degree from City University of New York (CUNY), an MA from the University of Virginia, and a PhD degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. In addition, Dr. Cortes has completed post-graduate work at both Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Cortes has earned anumber of teaching awards, fellowships and honors druing his accomplished career.
