Almeda Utilizes a More Traditional School Model for Students
Posted by: Thomas Hanson on March 3, 2008 7:52 AM

The number of institutions offering online degrees has grown rapidly in the U.S. Those offering the new distance learning model of education ten to rely on students to organize the course themselves. One exception to this model is Almeda, a school offering online degrees to students while keeping an 'old-school' view of education.

Almeda differentiates itself from other online schools by being one of the only institutions offering online degrees to offer extensive counseling to their students. As but one example, web site visitor seeking to obtain information about an Almeda degree can click on a support link to immediately enter a live chat.

Though the school utilizes this method to attract students to Almeda, the primary focus of the Almeda model is to guide students through their educational process. The counselor can provide students advice on everything from choosing a school and a program to what to do with that hard-earned degree afterwards.

Most traditional colleges and universities offer some form career counseling as one of the many services that are available to students of the school. However, one of the ways that online schools control costs is often the elimination of traditional counseling services. While many online universities can be barebones operations, Almeda seeks to be the exception to that format.
