As data emerges and is analyzed, the cost of an online degree option is becoming a better bargain with each pass year. According to data released in Indiana, the tuition at land based schools has risen by 66% at the University of Indiana and 78% at Purdue over the past six years. In contrast inflation rates over the period indicate an increase in the line of 18% would have been more appropriate.

According to sources, college rating systems are causing the enormous increases at land-based schools. In order to position these school in the rankings, schools are spending large sums in an effort to attract more students.

These rising costs are seen as one of the key factors for the success of low-cost online colleges such as the University of Phoenix and Baker College. he Phoenix online University already boasts 250,000 students in large part due to the bargain prices these schools can offer because of the reduced overhead.

When one considers the additional convenience offered by an online program the Internet school option becomes even more attractive to students.
