Dr. James L. Greenstone, a professor at Capella University, has a new text on disaster response entitled "The Elements of Disaster Psychology: Managing Psychosocial Trauma -An Integrated Approach to Force Protection and Acute Care." The adjunct faculty member also provides his expertise as a professor in the Harold Abel School of Psychology at Capella.
The text, designed to aid in practical, day-to-day, on-the-scene disaster response, intervener survival, and crisis intervention, will be available in February. The book features field-tested lists, procedures, suggestions, and guidelines for a vast array of disaster possibilities.
Greenstone has taught a number of courses at Capella including forensic psychology, ethics, clinical interventions, clinical supervision, psychology and the law, social psychology, psychopathology, and crisis intervention. The professor with forty years of clinical experience also previously served as the police psychologist for the Fort Worth, Texas, police department for 11 years.
