Capella University to Partner with Chief Learning Officer Magazine
Posted on: June 1, 2006 9:48 AM

Chief Learning Officer magazine has selected Capella University to partner in an educational venture that seeks to formalize a new course of study devoted entirely to workforce learning.

In formulating the partnership, the magazine and Capella will combine to establish a new entity called the CLO Academy. The new program will provide certification in three separate workforce development management tracks.

Through the CLO Academy, learning professionals can gain knowledge and skills in learning leadership, learning management, and in learning effectiveness. Capella, an online accredited university, has further constructed five core competencies for learning leaders, creating appropriate curricula in each competency for all of the three certification tracks. Those core competencies include strategic, general and knowledge management, leadership skills, and learning methods/concepts.

In designing the new partnership, students earning credits through the CLO Academy option may later transfer those credits to Capella's graduate online degree programs. The Academy will offer in-person colloquiums that lead into self-paced online classes delivered over the Capella University network. The kick off colloquiums are scheduled to be taught by current CLOs from organizations such as IBM, Microsoft, Wal-Mart, General Mills, Marriot International, Toyota, Cingular Wireless, AOL, and Capital One.
